What To Wear For New Year’s Eve

I never seem to decide on what I’m going to wear for NYE until the last minute, and that’s partly because of a little shopping hack I stumbled across a few years ago. As soon as Christmas Day winds down the sales spring up, meaning you can get that dress you’ve had your eye on at a fraction of the price. New Year is a perfect excuse for a new look anyway and with vast discounts at some of my favourite stores, it’s a great time to try something different. That being said, it’s never easy to decide what to wear for New Year’s Eve.

This is my first New Year in England for a while and so this year I’m thinking outside the box; choosing bold fashion pieces and mixing textures to create my own look. As much as I love dresses, I felt like a bit of a change this year and so have gone for a chic mini dress over a sequin top. It’s hard to find something that is chic and beautiful but that will also keep you warm(ish) so the long sleeves on this are great. If you consider a top under a dress then immediately all your silk cami dresses seem winter friendly. Whether you’re at a venue, a friend’s house or on the slopes, there’s a strong chance you’ll be subjected to the cold at some point during the evening so think about where you’re going to be before you decide what to wear. Watching fireworks on the Southbank in stilettos and velvet is great but not too practical- sadly.

Be brave and choose something a little bit different for this year’s party. Velvet, sequins, silk, metallics…sometimes all together. 2020 is going to be all about closet overhauls, style bravery and having fun with your clothes. Happy New Year!
